There's no ending psychosis.

I see all around me the brilliant effectiveness of universal education, a minimum living wage and universal healthcare. People have food, a doctor, the opportunity to attend higher education facilities so they can better themselves -- and yet there's still crime.

There's still murder, blood in the back streets. There's still the wife behind closed doors who is nursing a black eye and a broken lip for three weeks before she's ready to go outside again.

There's no end to it.

But that doesn't mean it's wrong. This place is different and better in so many ways. There's a fantastic art scene, hell, I just saw an ad in the paper for a musical based on the moon-landing. That's the kind of thing you can create when you don't have to worry about where your next meal will come from, or whether you're even going to have a home tonight.

There's children growing up wanting to be scientists and doctors, kids who in my world, would only dream of growing up to be free enough to have a bed to call their own and a pair of clothes they can wear.

Yes this place is not perfect, but it's the best we can hope for.

I'm aware of lobby groups trying to dismantle these safety nets. There's talk that Gotham can't afford to care for it's citizens, and will be bankrupt within 4 years.

I'm the richest man in this town and I'd gladly give whatever I needed to the coffers to keep this city as safe as can be.

People have suffered needlessly, I have suffered needlessly, and now we have change and there's almost an eternal echo to change it back - to become what is worse. I guess people have no optimism anymore.

I see Gotham as a city of human capital. These people become educated and innovate businesses - how can the city fail when everyone has the opportunity to better themself, and by extension, Gotham?

I don't know how this world will look in the future, and I hope to go back to my own world. I am needed there more than I am needed here, and now as a witness to this reality, maybe I can foster some change to my Gotham and create the closest thing to safe we can hope for.

We'll never be perfect, but we can always improve.
