Writing about topics that successful writers have already written about/how to get over the feeling that you have nothing new to say?

For most authors, none of them has anything new or important to say. They all recycle topics, arguments, life lessons and philosophies that have been written about for hundreds or thousands of years.

And people keep reading new books. They read them to throw themselves into a new story. To read engaging or witty dialogue. To imagine being in the new world the author has created.

I think what you described is called imposter syndrome. Feeling like you’re a hack and you have nothing new or interesting to bring to the table, so why even try when people can read stuff from all the other talented and well-established authors. Most authors go through this at least once.

How many series are out there that detail the life of kid being thrust into a magic academy? They’re all similar. All of the good ones follow the same structure of the hero’s journey. But each author tells it differently. People keep writing those stories and people keep buying those stories.

No one is going to tell the same story as you. Just bring your world to life and make it interesting and people will read it.
