XPS13 7390 2 in 1 headphone jack not working in Windows

  1. Checked MaxxAudio app for the popup setting --> it is enabled. But still, when I plug in, I get no response.
  2. Re-installed the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver and Waves MaxxAudio Pro Application from Dell's website ( https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/servicetag/0-Vkx1RzViM3d5US96L0xaY09vNStGZz090/drivers ) for Service Tag: CHNG3Z2
  3. I've tried multiple 3.5mm headphones -- none of them work unless I have them plugged in before boot. (i.e. same problem as the OP). All of these headphones work on my other devices flawlessly, but they don't on my new $1600 Dell XPS 13 2in1 7390.
  4. Tried killing the MaxxAudio app in Task Manager and starting it again to have it recognize my earphone, but it still doesn't.
  5. Tried using a 3.5mm to USB C dongle, and then plugging it into the USB C port -- the earphones still dont work (They work on other devices with the dongle too)
  6. Live booted into Ubuntu and the port and earphones work -- so the hardware is alright
