I thought that I was going to be traveling while BM was happening so I refrained from purchasing a ticket during the main sale. I didn't want to add to the site traffic and I figured that if my plans changed I might be able to snag a ticket during the summer. It turns out that I will be free to go, so I thought I'd give fate a shot. Who else is really starting to feel that familiar 'missing the Playa heartache?'
I'm a pretty high energy burner. Last year I was the deep fry cook at Space Tofu, come visit us around 6:45 and B! I also wandered the Playa with my friend Psycho 'helping' the community by chopping up tasty jello shot abortions for burners on hot afternoons – feel free to ask about it. I help my camp run smoothly during the afternoons but in the mornings and evenings I like to attend lots of events while doing a ton of exploring. This year my camp is expanding our deep frying operation so I'll be contributing by deep frying more tofu treats and other tasty snacks, dishing out more jello shots, and I'll be an active participant on the Playa.
I'm really conscious about social awkwardness because I was a shy, dorky kid growing up. I always make it a point to do little things like make really genuine group introductions, laugh along with people and not being dismissive. I know it's nothing major, but someone once told me that it was meaningful and made them feel welcome.
It's a goose. I think everyone I know has at least one traumatic goose story. I call the flocks of geese near my house the 'mean girls'. Side note, my favorite art installation is Penny the Goose. There is something so wonderful about its shining, honkish glory; like some deity of being a waddling jerk. I love that the artist's statement said it wasn't symbolic, that it was just a goose made of pennies. It makes me smile thinking about it.

I've been to Burning Man twice; in 2011 and 2015. I already have most of my equipment organized and packed because it was starting to look like I'd be able to come back this year. I also have enough money set aside to cover my camp fees and transportation expenses. If I was gifted the ticket I would just need to restock some food and costume pieces before accepting my camps offer to come back with them. I would still have the coming month to restock supplies and work on camp preparations. Last year I helped our camp tear down and participated in our moop sweep with intensity and purpose, I'm happy to say we got a clean green square. I'll pull my weight and leave no trace again this year.
