I finally played The Last of Us for the first time. What made it so groundbreaking?

It felt like the perfect send off for the PS3 which was in its twilight years by that point. Absolutely harnessed everything the console had to deliver possibly the best looking game on it.

and still I felt like it was a total slog to play on PS3 and never really appreciated it until coming back to the PS4 remaster. The PS3 didn't really do the game justice imo with it's 720p resolution, unstable framerate, poor textures and details, and generally sluggish feeling gameplay. It should've be held back as a PS4 launch title imo but I understand how business works, there was money to be made on PS3 and people ended up buying it twice anyway.
