Youtube app doesn't work for me

YouTube's app on the Xbone is gross from a user interface view.

The app is constantly telling me I can do things quicker on my phone (my iPhone is hooked up to the same WiFi and hooked into the Xbone via the Smartglass App, I assume though that the system is just set up to recognize a phone on the WiFi list and then produce the popup, even without Smartlgass but I may be wrong) but then it takes another 6 minutes to sync it feels like.

Google and YouTube use to be really good at branding but they have put out more shit in the last 3 years than they had their entire business lives prior. Google more than YouTube but since Google has owned YouTube forever now I kind of expect more out of the company (YouTube).

When you watch YouTube on any device it should all seem like they are customized from a central component. It's like a logo, The Facebook logo is always blue, so every app/site from Facebook has blue all over it. Same of McDonalds (Red/Gold), Netflix Red Box (both Red), Advocate Health Care (purple) and million of other businesses. YouTube accomplishes the logo constant by having Red all over their apps but then you go to the Xbox One app and aside from the red it doesn't feel like YouTube. It's clunky, it's got some weird late 1990's GeoCities/Angelfire style to it's userface and lacks key features and then makes it harder to use some of the features it does contain.

I would definitely recommend using IE on the Xbone if the app isn't working. Even if it is. The only use the app is to me is if I want to see the videos in my subscription feed. Although to be honest, with all the changes YouTube is making, I'm sure subscription feeds will soon be gone soon and then sold back to people with this YouTube Premium bullcrap they are pulling.

Also I'm sure some mod will come in here to remove your post since it doesn't say '[Tech]' or whatever weird Nazi flair is required on it but have you done a hard reset? Unplugging the Xbox's power cord from the back of the xbox, waiting two minutes, plugging it back in and waiting for the power supply light to cycle from Yellow to White to Yellow before starting the console? That's the only possible thing I can think of that you haven't already said you tried. You didn't specifically say you did or did not do the hard reset so I figured I'd mention the hard reset although I do realize you may have already done that.
