Saying jokes against some groups are worse than others puts the importance of that group above the other group based on nothing more than race (which here is racist because the difference is attributable to nothing more than race).

I guess it's coming down to a matter of perception(I'm not sure that's the most appropriate word). You perceive my position as racist on purely the definition of favoring one race over another race purely on the basis of race. I perceive it as a more socio-economic position on the basis of different levels of sensitivity because of the contrast between how the united states treated people of color vs non (acknowledging the plight of white minorities like the Irish or the Jewish) in our relatively recent past (dude, 60 years isn't a very long time).

Is it racist? I guess by the definition that you put forward it is. But at that point when

False. The group at the top is predominantly white people, but the opposite is not true. Those at the top make up a very small portion of white people.

That is most definitely up for debate. There is well documented prejudice present in things like hiring practices and racial profiling in law enforcement that I believe point otherwise. But it is getting a lot better.

No it wouldn't. I don't think allegations of racism should shut down the conversation like they do. You should recognize that your claim that racist jokes against black people are worse than those against white people is racist then that coupled with your disdain for people pushing other racist claims makes you a hypocrite.

I'm honestly not concerned with accusations of hypocrisy. Hypocrisy, white lies, shifting opinions and actions to better suit the relationship you want to build with those around you is a pretty important aspect of society. I'll concede it's probably hypocritical to be concerned with racial jokes about POC but not about white people. But frankly, I don't care. White people don't need my help. People of color don't really need it either, honestly, (though as a Korean-American I have particular interest in perceptions of Asian men in the US) but as a personal policy, I'll call out race jokes against minorities once in a while. Yeah, black people, asian people, we've all got problems that have to be addressed. But let us figure it out on our own for once.

I'm not saying that to shut the conversation down, I'm saying that (and backing it up with facts and logic) to explain that you need to get off your high horse.

It's more of a medium horse, honestly.
