26/32: Why Will/Why Won't The Detroit Lions win the 2017 Super Bowl? [Serious]

Niners

Yes Kaepernick: When Kaepernick came in for Alex Smith in 2012 it was clear he could be something special. He has shown before he can be an elite quarterback, the leader of his team, and an extremely hard worker. Although he has struggled recently, he does not have to become better than he's ever been, rather return to his original greatness. With a breath of fresh air in Chip Kelly and one more chance to redeem himself, Kap has the potential to rebound back into greatness

Chip Kelly: Chip Kelly was not brought into the league for nothing. His offense is explosive and creative, and has worked well in the past even with mediocre/bad quarterbacks. Now Chip gets Colin Kaepernick, a guy that he has been rumored to covet, and the foundation of an offense. Now could be his time to turn it around. It's also important to remember that a large part of him being fired in Phili was his job as GM, which he won't have to worry about in SF.

Underrated Defense: The niners displayed flashes of good defense last year, praticularly at home. At Levi’s the Bengals were the only team to crack over 20 points, and have held half of the opposing starting running backs to under 45 yards, as well as holding the Ravens to under 70. This was playing against several stars like AP, Devonta Freeman, and David Johnson. Now they get to bring back Antoine Bethea from injury, bring in Deforest Buckner, and bring forth developing players like Arik Armstead.

No Chip Kelly: There's been a lot swirling around with Chip Kelly recently. To start his teams get worse every year, a possible sign that teams are figuring out how to handle his unique offense. His players have seemed to not rally to him, and even accused him of being racist. The niners roster will probably not handle this much differently than the Phili roster did. There's also the fact that he is a control freak. He's not the GM this time around, but he's reported to already clash with the current one, Trent Baalke. Baalke has argued with Jim Harbaugh, Alex Davis, really anyone who has given him enough time to do so. Now Baalke is already arguing with Chip, and I guarantee if Baalke will be the one to eventually run Chip out of town if he doesn't get fired first.

Questionable Players: Carlos Hyde, Torrey Smith, Zane Beadles, Joshua Garnett, Trent Brown, Arik Armstead, Deforest Buckner, Eli Harold, and Jimmie Ward. All of these guys should have substantial roles next year but all are either questionable or inexperienced. In case of the two rookies, Buckner needs to be developed and Garnett has work to do in pass protection. In terms of the new starters, Beadles has been shaky recently, Brown, Armstead and Harold have flashed potential but may not be ready to step up, and Jimmie Ward (who has been taking snaps at corner) is making the rare transition from college safety to nickel back, and now cornerback. Carlos Hyde has been inconsistent and frequently injured, and Torrey Smith is being forced to become the main receiver after shadowing Anquan Boldin. Also all of these guys don't have a clear backup to step in if they fail.

Little Change: The niners signed a whopping 1 major free agent, and will likely have only 2 rookie starters. We will be seeing for the most part the same niners team from last year, and that in itself is concerning.

Other Teams: Niners are tied toughest schedule in the league. The playoff picture is also bad. I. The NFC west they would have to fend off either Seattle or Arizona, as at least one is bound to be a playoff lock. The NFC as a whole will probably be strong enough to prevent the NFC west from taking both wild card spots.

Conclusion The offense will probably be terrible, the defense can be solid, and Chip Kelly will either be their savior or their demise, likely the latter.
