3/13/16 daily cassual discussion

This would be nice... Just a bit of transparency in the community when actions like this are performed.. Perhaps a daily/as-needed mod post indicating bans, so that the community is aware and can weigh in... And while I acknowledge that it would be more work and so perhaps a bit of a stretch, I really do wish things were a bit more democratic around here... Our main acting mod has stated multiple times that they are essentially the sole acting moderator - the lone judge, jury and executioner... This isn't really healthy for a sub of our size or activity level... If you wade through comment histories, you will see "then go somewhere else and start a sub yourself - let us know how that works out for you" sorts of retorts to people questioning the mods - these sorts of remarks can be construed as condescending, unproductive and not befitting of a representative/moderator.

What I'd truly like to see are elected delegates for our community serving as mods - not just 1 or 2 people who seem to be holding on to the community and moderation power indefinitely, acting as they wish in the moment... I know that there's nothing that says this is how reddit "has to operate", but I believe it to be a better way than how things are currently being done. In such a system, you have people who wish to serve - and not people who seem to 'resent the burden' of moderating our community, as has been expressed historically by this sub's few moderators. Additionally, it would be nice for our sub to have a 'board' of elected moderators to keep individual mods' actions in balance with the greater good of the community. I believe all moderator roles should be temporary and elected roles, for which mods would have to be reelected by the community in order to continue to participate as a moderator in the community...

Of course this is more difficult than what we currently have in play and would require work... And of course, without the willingness of the existing powers that be, this is something that could never happen... As I've stated both in this forum and directly to existing mods, I am here to help.
