4 Reasons Why We Should All Give Up On Gotham

i will just quote the first comment

Dear Mr. James, It appears you have not read the following books & storylines:

  1. Batman Year One (1987), Frank Miller

  2. Batman: Death in the Family (1989)

  3. Batman-Hush

  4. Or basically any Batman Story #400-onwards

Which basically was the basis for the show moving forward. You’re list is forced and is obviously from someone who has no idea of Batman Origins other that popular media. Any pet-peeve of a true Batman fan would be the following:

a) Jim Gordon is not from Chicago

b) Harvey Bullock is not in his late 20’s

c) Leslie Thompkins is not a Geriatric

d) Jerome is implied as the Joker (not related to ANY joker Origin)

As a “Non-Reader” you could have stated the shotgun characterization through each episode because 4 plots were developing all at once in the 50 minute time-frame. But no, you were so pretentious as to think that your lack of Bat-experience could be covered up by smart-talk (in which you failed miserably at because your narrative is sub-standard journalistic wise).

Here are 4 reasons why you are wrong:

  1. There are NO SUPERVILLAINS in Gotham Season 1. Nygma killed one guy, this sets up the seclusion he will take in his journey towards becoming the Riddler. Penguin WAS A MOB Boss before Batman. Harvey Dent is not yet sprayed in acid, and his tactics match the persona in the canon from 1989 which includes the coin flipping. A mistake only a pretender would make.
  2. Balloon Man as the first vigilante is a bad thing why? You’re talking about cartoony villains showing up in a cop-drama because? These are the questions I’m thinking of as I cringe at what you typed. Please read that back and tell me you didn’t smack your forehead.
  3. You do know that the Wayne Murders never get solved until Bruce grows up right? You don’t? Is it because you only watched the Nolan films? Shame. But aside from that, you didn’t see how Bullock turned from Grey Cop to Straight Cop through out the season? You couldn’t feel the evolution of Penguin from Bumbling Henchman to master Power Player? Or more importantly, didn’t you get the set up that led to the need for a Batman? Where a naive Jim Gordon tries to fight an unwinnable fight and learns that something bigger was needed? Didn’t you feel the acceptance in the finale? No? Shame.
  4. Hahahahaha. You just got that at the finale? Why should Batman exists? Because Jim Gordon will fail and fall into a limbo that requires Batman. The fourth reason is just wow, you have no place to write this article.

*BONUS REASON WHY YOU’RE WRONG: Jim Gordon is a College Graduate and Military Trained. Of course he can talk like that.

PS. Please read your source material.
