ABC just accidentally aired Lebron's dick on national television.

I know what they were about, yes. So how are we going to define harassment? I know they frequently made fun of various fat activists who were in the public eye, but are we calling that harassment now? Because I'm pretty sure you can walk into a supermarket during any daylight hours and find a houswife doing some version of that with a tabloid in her hands, yet we aren't calling that harassment.

I consider harassment to be one-on-one direct attention. That's a necessary condition for you to be able to say someone is harassing someone else. And even then, that doesn't apply to public figures who voice their ideas, does it? Is anyone saying the people at /r/skeptic are harassing Dr. Oz? Is anyone saying the people at /r/antivax are harassing Jenny McCarthy? I bet they've gotten their share of hate mail, and I bet some of the people who sent mean messages read at places like those subreddits.

People are idiots, is the conclusion. You don't care that people curse out Dr. Oz because you don't agree with him. Additionally, you might not care because he's rich. And if it's not you (because I don't know you), someone else here will use this morally bankrupt reasoning. I know that because I've seen it and argued it more times than I can count in real life.

Basically, if I want to be okay with saying that Dr. Oz should have his license revoked and never speak to an audience again, and if I want to be okay with calling him an idiot not fit to hold a microphone, then I need to be okay with people hating fat activists. If I want to be okay with calling antivaxxers morons who are setting medicine back 100 years and causing the deaths of innocent children and senior citizens, then I have to be okay with other people hating fat people.

Somewhere in all that, I'm sure someone has been harassed. I mean really harassed, though, not the big gold umbrella of a definition people are wanting to use. But that's not the point of these subreddits. It's not encouraged. It's punished. You can't blame 150,000 people for the actions of even 1% of their community.
