Not a magician at all. Here’s my guess on how he did it. Anyone who knows magic - am I close?

The card is a sleight of hand. He put the penguin on top instead of the card she touched.

The rubrics cube: there are only so many combinations possible. He has a video clip for each possibility.

The marker is dry. And the page just has the word hat circled, or even he just wrote the word hat on the page for Simon to read. He stopped at the page before she said “stop.”

So, all of the props except the rubrics cube are set before hand. Then, it’s just a matter of choosing to play the clip with the rubrics cube that matches the configuration she chose. !<
