Acid Bath - Graveflower

Acid Bath (Dax) always gives me the goosebumps. First time I ever heard them is a bit of a story.

So way back when in the mid 90's two friends and I embarked on a journey. Brutal Truth and Pungent Stench was playing in San Francisco and with the great fortune, the Grateful Dead was also playing in Oakland. Guess which show we had tickets for?

So we finally make it to the Oakland coliseum and start scouring he parking lot. We have less than an hour, maybe it was even 30 minutes before we had to leave and head into the big city. Well we found what we where looking for, just a lot less of it. Me, the driver, and my my good friend each take two hits of LSD, the other buddy, no way. Well we start to make our journey, and upon entering S.F and making our way through the streets it starts to hit me. I pull over at a gas station and say, "(name of friend) you're driving".

Well we make it there, some band opens up, no biggie. Then either one of these two happened, I don't remember the order, so I will start with the weird one... Which I am sure is the right order since they where more local. They start throwing meat out into the audience, chunks of flesh, I don't know what the fuck it is, just meat. Oh it was exhumed, in 95-96?. I didn't know the band, my friend did, but I was just a little confused I guess. Well after that mayhem, Acid Bath hits the stage. Now my friend and I are just sitting on some seats at the side of the venue in complete awe, my mouth probably open, zoned out on the performance, with an occasional glance at each other in disbelief. It was a different world. (now my wife is playing scream of the butterfly, and no she doesn't know I am typing all this, about AB).

Well, after that, it started to come back to reality, well, just enough anyways for Brutal Truth and Pungent Stench to end the night in wonderful way.

Back then I saw so many death metal bands in the California bay area, I forget even the big names, they all stopped there. That was a night I will never forget. We brought back word of Acid Bath, and I have been a fan of them, and all things Dax since.

This song always gets me going, like waking up a sleepy party with Pantera
