The background of tolkiens mythology is germanic and celtic culture. It is incomprehensible in my opinion if the people of the north and the west don't look european. The Haradrim are black skinned and maybe they have a subplot in the series and as we know not all of them are bad. But i was really wondering in the hobbit movies where the people of lake town had some black people. Lake town is thus the most northerly city in middle earth. This doesn't fit. The story of most women in the second age is not particularly elaborate except of Galadriel. So here you could definitly add some plott. But women don't fight at war except of a few (Haleth) which is also the problem of Eowyn. But if they are gay people or some other shit I will quit watching the show as much as that would hurt me.
