After London: let’s start talking about Islam - Protecting Islam from ridicule has had disastrous consequences

I'm not talking about my friends, I'm talking about general comments I see under BBC news posts and things like that. These are mainstream pages and the posts get plenty of likes.

Though, I'd be interested in seeing if there has been any media/movie/sketch shows/stage shows/mainstream comedy that have mocked Islam and the prophet to the same degree it has for other ideologies and how they have been received.

Four Lions? Games like Cards Against Humanity are popular and aren't afraid to mock Islam. Hell, I actually played that with a few uni friends, two of which were hijabis, and they loved it. I feel like people are open to that sort of thing so long as it's in good taste. I mean, you'd face opposition if you outright ridiculed it but that's true for anything, no?

There's a line between satirising and mockery is my point. Satire is funny, and most people receive it well. You'll always get a few crazies who don't but that's part of life. Mockery is different though, it's inherently malicious, and people are always going to take offence.
