After Working at Google, I’ll Never Let Myself Love a Job Again: I learned the hard way that no publicly traded company is a family.

Absolutely agreed. Hell, in my experience, any kind of "employer awards" tend to be red flags. A sign they believe paying "independents" to say they're good employers will make it true.

My current job has literally no such awards, nominations, or whatever. It's the best job I've ever had. Generous percentual salary increase every year. Extra days off besides my country's law-mandated vacation days. When I got serious ill, they were nothing but understanding and asked no questions when I had to frequently be away.

At some point I know I will have to move on and try something different, because I don't want to work for the same company and live in the same city for some 40 more years, but I definitely worry I'll never find something this good somewhere else.
