He didnt decide to visit because he was a teenager and you live far away. Of course he didnt want to be away from his friends and his normal life. Im sorry his mother moved away, but you could have moved for your son. You cant put that on him.

You dont have to change the room back, he hasnt been there in years it seems like no biggie. But you do need to talk with your son and try to understand where he is coming from. It seems that clearly he didnt feel comfortable at your house. This shouldnt be about you "being the asshole", it should be about you fixing this divide between you and your son. At the end of the day he is only 18, you gotta be the adult and try to level with him.
