It’s crazy that your cousin asked for 3 full days while you’re on vacation, and didn’t get your approval way in advance. But I think you made it worse by making it about money. Your argument about what your time is worth is disingenuous and overly simple. I assume you have paid vacation, so you were already getting paid $40 from your company for that time that you were babysitting. I think it would have been super reasonable to just say “no, that’s not how I want to use my vacation because babysitting stresses me out” or to offer just one day but at a reasonable rate. You have good ground to stand on, you just didn’t make your point in the best way.
