AITA Holiday Megathread!

AITA for wanting to regift presents?

My friend is shaming me for wanting to regift some presents to our mutual friend (MF). Now I’m not super close with the MF but we have gotten closer this year due to being in same classes.

MF has invited a group of 8 to come out and eat dinner to celebrate her 18th birthday, however she is not paying for our meals (and as I believe will be expecting presents as well, as most people do on their bdays)

I personally believe that if you’re inviting people out to celebrate your birthday, knowing that they’re taking time out of their day to come and both expecting gifts from them, that you should at least cover some meals.

Due to this situation and being broke, I thought I would regift a $30-$50 worth present to her with a nicely written card.

However my friend thinks I should go out and decide what she likes and buy it instead of regifting.

AITA?
