I don’t hate Xander, but he’s always been one of my least favorites. He can be very manipulative and judgmental. But everyone can be like that sometimes, I don’t only like flawless characters, they pretty much don’t even exist. My thing is, Xander’s worst qualities are more amplified in the later seasons, which means his development got slightly worse instead of the other way around. But he has some great moments, I just can’t hate him. I also think the fact that the actor has been exposed as a criminal and abusive to women, that’s added to the perception of Xander. Everyone can try to separate character from actor, but if the actor is this bad of a person, it gets harder to completely separate.
