it always makes me mad when transphobes(and some trans people) say transwomen have "male socialization"

I don't really get the whole "that wasn't socialization, that was traumatic" thing. I agree that it was traumatic, but that doesn't change that we almost invariably did pick up some stuff. At the very least, most of us picked up ways of walking and talking and gesturing and sitting. If we didn't, we wouldn't have to relearn how to do those things during transition.

Yeah, almost all of us acquired some amount of male socialization by being treated as male. The key is that we are able to undo and replace that socialization. I think the problem is that most people who use the phrase also imply that it is some immutable trait, an experience that can neither be changed nor removed. That right there is fucked up and wrong.
