I am a 47 year old white South African man who experienced the final years of apartheid. AMA

What are your thoughts on modern South Africa and especially the reported murder of white farmers going on? Because I grew up in a rural area, I personally know people who were attacked on their farms, and it's obviously horrible. All credible indications are that the farmers are being attacked because they're soft targets (isolated locations, far from police presence etc) and not because of a concerted drive aimed at the wide-scale murder of white people. In fact, black farmers have also been attacked, and black farm workers are often hurt or killed in farm attacks. These are just common instances of criminality in a country with a high crime rate.

What do you think of the EFF? I'm not a supporter of the EFF. They specialise in populist fear-mongering, offer unrealistic solutions to complex problems and are not above race-baiting to achieve their aims. The EFF is also the fastest growing political party in SA, so I am a little concerned about the prospect of them gaining more power.

What do you think of Eugene Terre'Blanche and the AWB in general? The AWB doesn't exist anymore, and rightly so. I hated their drunken stupid racist asses. They were never really taken seriously, except on the extreme right fringe, and most people treated them as the joke they were.

Do you think apartheid had a positive side? Jesus, no! Is this a serious question?
