Our Government helped to create the conditions that people are fleeing in Latin America. We’re horrified at the treatment of children seeking asylum at our borders while being totally oblivious to the impact we’ve had on children in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria and Yemen. We create instability around the world so we exploit vulnerable nations for their labor and natural resources. We act as the police for the World Bank. We pride ourselves on ignorance and arrogance. We mock the cultures that we originated from. We play into a two party system that caters to corporations and the rich. It’s fine though. As long as we can ogle Kim Kardashian’s ass while we swill our venti iced lattes, we’re cool.
