Americans, why is tipping proportional to the bill? Is there extra work in making a $60 steak over a $20 steak at the same restaurant?

just a ridiculous artificially created structure that is advantageous for business owners/corporate to rake in more cash with lower expenses while the middle class shuffles their hard earned cash within the rest of the poor people. hidden behind the curtain of "oh yeah its for good service :))))"

it's so deeply rooted into the culture its fascinating. and many arent questioning it.

nothing wrong with tipping per say, but the whole culture has been gaslighted to somehow be acceptable for the tip to be pretty much mandatory/expected.

a big pyramid scheme for rich to get richer and poor to stay poor.
