Instantkarma for people setting a trailer on fire.

deserving the burns that happen in between getting lit on fire because of something stupid that you did, and getting put out.

and getting lit on fire because of something stupid you did, and standing over that person while they scream and burn alive.

are pretty different things.

I'm not going to shed any tears for the burns they get because of something they intentionally did. I'd happily throw them in front of a court to have them pay for what they destroyed and serve some time for it.

but theres a lot of gradient there before I reach the consequence of "death by burning alive".

Arson is no joke, nobody should be walking away from this with a slap on the wrist, but you don't think that death by burning alive, one of the most horrific forms of death we know of, is maybe just a little over the top? Like maybe some burns, paying back the damage and a couple years in prison should maybe be enough?

if someone died in the fire, maybe I'd go that route in an "eye for an eye" sort of way. but "burn to death" for property damage? Then what do we do when a person does die? full on barbarism? break out the brazen bull again?
