Amtrak Vermonter - what's it like?

You stay cool too! One thing that I sort of alluded to but didn't actually say is that there's no TSA screening to take away your jar of peanut butter or your bottle of seltzer or whatever, so if you do want to bring your own food it's a lot easier than if you were taking a plane flight.

I think there are at least one or two stops along the way that are long enough to quickly grab something to eat from the train station or go to a non-train bathroom.

I think the bus between the Essex Junction train station and Burlington is a Green Mountain Transit bus, which is probably pretty similar to most other city buses you might have been on. But it's been awhile since I've made that trip so maybe Amtrak does have a bus, I just don't know.

(Once or twice I rode the Vermonter train when they were doing construction on the tracks in Massachusetts, so they had arranged for buses to bypass that section of the train journey. They were a lot like any Greyhound bus you might have taken in the past, fine but not quite as nice as the train. It actually didn't add any time to the overall trip, but just be aware that it's at least a possibility. Amtrak takes care of it and there's no extra ticket or fee or anything.)

Hope you have a great trip
