Is Vermont worth moving to?

Your jobs are somewhere else, so that means immediately you have a hole when it comes to working with local people. So you're looking for freedom in a new place while you spend large chunks of time on the computer/phone for work. Things need to be meaningful to have that change youre looking for, and I think the change isnt about the place, but how you habituate yourself to daily living.

You'd love Vermont if you were able to have a job with locals, find a nice spot in a place where you think youd fit (I'd bet Chittenden county). But you guys will be in a new place, and looking to connect with the place and people during periods inbetween working. The novelty will wear off at some point, I think. Complete guess. You might find exactly what youre looking for, but my guess is that youre bringing baggage thats causing you guys to want to move. Wanting to move quickly and randomly usually has some negative reasons behind it.

I think if you find community and connection here, youll absolutely love the area I mentioned. Many towns feel so distinct, by the lake, getting close to the mountains, in the mountains, all in such a small area. Take a ferry/bridge to NY and theres a national park almost the size of Vermont right there. I feel differently because these areas are ingrained in my mind as a local, so take it all with a grain of salt.
