An Infographic on Armada's recent matches against Mango

They're professional video game players of a game that is older than a lot of reddit users. People are fanatical. But some people can actually pay attention to what the top members of the community say to try and understand who the best players are.

Tafo's stats are contextless, just wins and losses from an arbitrary point in time that excludes a span of time where Mango was undisputed the best in the world and beating Armada in major tournaments.

Tafo said that Armada has recently been whooping on Mango, but he included a Captain Falcon game from a 3-1 Mango set, the Captain Falcon being the only loss. The very fact that in losers bracket Mango tried to go Captain Falcon on ARMADA is ridiculous. It was a no-lose scenario for Mango, because if he won he's a god and if he lost he was Captain Falcon. But then he went and won the next 2 games and moved on. Armada called Mango a "true champion of the game" because for the 3rd major in a row, Mango was the victor.

I like stats, but I also like context. I feel most people that don't like to know the "why" are the people that don't make efforts to understand the game and players on a deeper level. Mew2King wins smaller tournaments all the time over Mango, but when push comes to shove at majors Mango wins way more while Mew2King's biggest tournament win was like Big House 3, years ago.

It's exciting to watch a scene where big tournaments carry weight, where certain matches and sets count for more. It's like the Super Bowl, or the playoffs. Sure, you won in the regular season, but what about the playoffs when every match in Top 8 is a nail-biter? Do you have what it takes to not just beat 1 god, but as many as needed to win the whole thing? Who is going to crack under pressure? That's what makes it entertaining, as well as the excellent Melee performances.
