Andromeda Discussion Mega-Thread

Yes. It worries me. Not in the short term obviously.

Google is unlikely to support three operating systems indefinitely. At some point there will be a cut. Google pivots.

There are contracts in place for educational accounts and such, but at a certain point they could stop accepting new accounts, or it may not even have a direct effect because Andromeda devices could become the new Chromebook-like-device and exist side by side for awhile.

I remain cautiously optimistic but Chrome OS is my current platform and I don't want to switch or be "forced" off. I am concerned that Andromeda may only be a glorified version of Android with just a few Chrome OS aping features scattered in, and that the security I've come to rely on in Chrome OS will be lost if I'm "forced" to switch to Andromeda by obsolescence.

I'm a little afraid that Andromeda is going to be a step back in some ways, but because I'm a skeptic and there haven't been any official announcements or demos yet, I remind myself that I don't know what to expect.
