Anime Discussion Thread: Episode 24

An amazing episode to end things off with! The pacing was tremendous (seeing as how they only had one testimony scheduled for this episode), and it's probably one of the best episodes yet (besides that amazing filler one, of course).

Shelly de Killer looked even creepier here than in the last episode, especially with the creepy lighting. Also, his slip of the tongue was done brilliantly here. One thing I didn't get, though, is why the fuck he shouted "BOURBON" when he realised it.

The bit just before Franziska comes in was paced wonderfully. It really made me feel tense, even though I knew exactly what was going to happen. I also liked how Matt took "you did enough evil to drive a woman to suicide" as a compliment. Franziska's entrance was great (I love how she interrupted Phoenix mid-fingerpoint). I'm also glad that, while we didn't get to see Phoenix throwing a phone at Edgeworth, we got to see Franziska throwing evidence at Phoenix, and that's a pretty good compensation.

The video of de Killer murdering Juan Corrida was really eerie, so that's a plus. I also rather liked seeing Matt Engarde's fear and his eventual breakdown in all of its animated glory. I didn't feel, though, that it was a smart move to have the breakdown be before the plea of guilty instead of during it. I think it had much more of an emotional effect the way it was in the game. I did, however, love Engarde's confession and the performance that came with it. Kudos to the VA for that splendid performance!
