Another big issue that Rogue One managed to fix [spoilers]

Can anyone answer this for me, I just watched Rouge tonight. I have seen all the star wars movies but, A.) Why did they just release a new one, that I guess is the last movie Chronologically? Then Rouge, I thought I was going to be seeing a movie that continued on the last one I saw last year. B.) I heard they had green lighted 3 of them, and I keep hearing about this Han Solo one, so is that all three? Somewhere someone said another one also after the force awakens.

I am kind of confused as to where the plot is going, like racing pods with jar jar, becomes dark lord, has son, commands death star, plans stolen, force jedi son comes to take him out, then Yoda, um force awakens, so what is going to happen there?

Sorry I guess I need to watch force awakens again I kind of assumed that one came between the new 3 and the old 3 but if it's at the end of the old 3, in time line order where are they taking the story after?

At least they're doing good with this one too I liked it more than TFA, because as a star trek fan I was kind of let down the new movies were going along the same plot story line as the old ones, I'm 31 though so I grew up watching VHS of the old series and to see them redo them with the exact (except kirk dies instead of spoke) story line was kind of a let down.
