Rian Johnson on his reasoning for the ending of TLJ

I read this interview about Glass Onion and really liked it. I respect his process, and I love a lot of his work. But it was wrong for Star Wars, sorry. His film didn't recontextualise Star Wars, and I think he really misunderstood the material. What people have forgotten is that the very foundation of Star Wars is subversive. It could be very serious science fiction, or lofty allegory; instead it's a modern throwback to romantic action serials, but with lots of original fantasy detail. It's such a simple idea that people have forgotten what a seismic shift in the psychology of cinema it was.

Andor, if you ask me, was successful in partially recontextualising Star Wars.
