Antinomianism, theology and charismatics

I see.

I'm not trying to convert you, (and I won't), but I'll tell you some of my views on those things.

eternal hell

I think eternal hell is just a feedback loop. People die, they see Jesus face to face, they reject him, this is interpreted as them rejecting the epitome of all morality and so they then get punished for that rejection of God/Good. Their punishment makes them resentful and then they get further punished for their increased resentment of God. Being unable to let go of hatred against God, they are thus unable to escape hell, and so it continues forever.

Essentially, God commands, they disobey, God reacts (hell), they get resentful, the punishment increases, more resentment, more punishment, which leads into more resentment, even more punishment etc.

On the other hand, heaven is the opposite: it's a positive feedback loop.

So from my point of view people do it to themselves when they see Christ after death.

The multiplicity of religions & denominations,

I think that's evidence of human stupidity more than anything else. I don't see atheism as much different than being just another denomination or belief system.

the problem of evil

You said that in the world good and bad happens to good and bad people, thus you're saying that the seemingly random nature of the world could be interpreted as evidence against God. But this depends on how you would expect an infinite God to treat the world.

biblical morality

This is entirely dependent on personal preference but also on personal perception. For example you said 42 youths were killed for insulting a prophet. In my opinion, if a gang of thugs who possibly had a history of violence came up to some stranger on the street and began heckling and insulting them, but then suddenly a bear destroyed the entire gang, well... that's just poetic justice.

So I think Biblical morality will appeal to some and not to others and this can change depending on how they see it, and why.

In some ways I have similar criticisms of Christianity to you: the blatant false miracles of the charismatics; the multiplicity of denominations etc. etc. but all these things to me are just evidence of human stupidity.

I also see the world similarly to you do: a lot of the time there's an absence of justice and it comes off as random, but to me it speaks of exactly what I would expect to see in a fallen world, not what I would expect to see in world without God.

I almost think, that, with a subtle change of perception, you might have been a Christian... or remained one.
