Wrote this for my first characters backstory, its an artificer in a space campaign

If someone else has it and you want it, I’m your man. I’ve got this “right tool for the job” business that lets me make any tool I need. I am more than capable of using this to break into high security places and steal your favorite piece of art out of its museum or your corporate rival’s secret formula right out from under his nose. For the right bounty, consider it yours.

I have proficiency in perception and slight of hand and I rely on my intelligence to get obstacles out of the way before I get in the way rather than trying to sneak past them. I am willing to take a little risk to speed up the process and get a move on, being anywhere for too long can be dangerous. I’m not out to hurt anyone but don’t think I’m about to let myself get caught because of it, avoiding or redirecting people is my best policy.

To help me with this I make constructs, purpose built for the job to watch my back or equipped with a tool to get into places I can’t reach and bypass security or plant decoys but they’re fragile little guys so they don’t last very long. This “magical tinkering” also lets me augment items with some pretty nifty properties. Put it to good use before ensuring I had some alone time to snag a coveted antique turtle dragon statue. Evacuated the building with an item imbued with the smell of explosive gas, worked like a charm.

Back then my name was Rook but I don’t go by that anymore. Not since one of my clients ratted me out. Might have to have a word or two with him about that but with the agency on my back, I’m forced to lay low for a while.
