Any trans Canadians absolutely terrified of the seemingly inevitable rise of transphobia here?

I lived in both America and Canada for extended periods, maple syrup land is a shittier version of the U.S. where people are more polite (often passive-aggressive) and everything is 5-10 years late compared to America with few exceptions.

As much as Canadians like to rag on America, they secretly wish they were like the United States but with better healthcare and maybe better social safety nets.

Most brands and media people Canucks consume are American because they're better in general.

I don't feel hopeful at all because I lived in Ottawa and although it's light years ahead of most places in terms of queer acceptance, the people who suck try to compensate by being as awful as possible.

There's a chance that there will be an election in 2023 and expect the right wing to be as cruel as possible to trans, BIPOC, disabled, and poor folks.

FWIW, I talked to a couple of queer people and they're more optimistic than me.
