Anyone deploying new desktop PCs with Wi-Fi only?

It's doom and gloom because you want to build a network with a single point of failure using technology that's more of a convenience than reliable.

I'll start by saying I'm totally on your side here. But..

In a small business environment (<25 users) there's almost always going to be a single point of failure. Firewall, Switch, Modem, Server, etc. Those offices don't typically have the budget for a backup that's ready and waiting, either.

Now, granted, all of those are things I could reconfigure and re-deploy within an hour or so, but I could do the same with a wireless network unless there was physically an attacker within reach of the WiFi network.

I'm not saying with any confidence that it WON'T happen, but I can't say I've ever once in ~10 years seen something like that actually occur.
