Anyone else feel like they’re being pushed more and more into the realm of a behavior resource?

I will screen those kiddos but if they can talk about their feelings/behaviors (or those of a tv or book character) when regulated then they aren't demonstrating a language disorder. I tell the teachers those students have language skills; they need a different type of support (OT, Soc Work, etc) to learn to regulate their emotions and access the language skills they have. I'm not a licensed social worker or school counselor so someone who is trained in those areas can better support the student.

(This is not to say that all kids who can't talk when upset have age appropriate language skills. But if they CAN talk about feelings/emotions appropriately when regulated they likely have the skills.)
