i don't think this debate is as important as you expect it to be.

trump has suggested that the father of a fallen american soldier has terrorist ties, referred to all mexican immigrants as drug dealers and rapists, has repeatedly cited and retweeted and quoted imagery from legit neo nazis, has lied almost every single time he's opened his mouth, is openly involved with dozens of scandals and at least one but likely more outright criminal investigations, has demonstrated that all of his plans are either improvised on the spot or simplistic to the point of infantilism and utterly unworkable, he has attempted to illegitimize a president with outright horseshit, bullied people who cannot fight back, openly mocked disabled people, appealed to racists with racism, has made veiled threats and "suggested" violence against people who disagree with him - including his opposition.

everyone knows what he is.

everyone knows what he stands for.

it has been months since the GOP has realized there is no 'best' trump, there is just no way to polish a turd of this magnitude

the only thing he could possibly say that would actually lose him votes at this point would be to admit that he will not be building a wall

(which he will then claim was HRC's idea to begin with)
