Atheists with religious parents; How did your parents react when you told them you dont believe in a god(s)?

My father said it's strange that I don't believe in my own father existing. You see, the only God my father believes in is himself, I am never really sure if that's a joke. He already left the catholic church long ago. My mother didn't care since she never was religious and now also left the church.

My sister and I are still technically in the church, but that's only until we need to pay the tax, which is once we get a job after university. We both want to be teachers, and being a member of the catholic church increases the number potential work places. You can leave once you got your job because by law even catholic churches can't discriminate based on religion, but your chances to initially get the job are higher if you are still a member.
