All right. All right. Fuck this. I'm a libertarian who's been critical of police brutality since I read the Christopher Commission back in the early 2000s. And, yes, this tweet is just statist propaganda by the police. Agreed. But this Baltimore riot has become a Progressive's wet dream as they momentarily co-opted it for shitty partisanship talking points. Next year, they'll forget all about police brutality. Trust me. They're like birds in the sky moving together in misguided swaths. Anyhow...
Police brutality is a major problem, but this isn't just about systemic racism in the police force. Racism isn't the only issue, and far less of an issue with the Baltimore police. Why? Because Baltimore's police are nearly half black. And, if it's policy you take issue with, then take it up with the Democratic mayors they've elected for the past 50 years. And the Democratic city council on top of that. And what do we hear about on the news? This is about black poverty and disenfranchised blacks without jobs, etc. All right. I don't disagree with all that, but... Why haven't the nearly 50 years of uncontested Democratic policies helped to fix this? Wait, you mean emboldening unions and cronyism and echo chamber politics didn't pave the streets with success? No shit. And the mayor of Baltimore isn't Mayor McCheese. He has teeth. He influences policy and the police.
And then there's the looting. You know, setting private property on fire. For which the police didn't help to prevent, because they're not worth a shit when the actual shit hits the fan. We should've learned our lesson on that with the LA riots and Katrina. So the looting happens. And then the burning of people's livelihood. And then the violence. And then they target the poor Asians, because, "well, fuck them, they're not black!" And so all these business are destroyed. Jobs. Commerce. Money for the community. Why? Because they're suffering? Well, guess what?! You're gonna be suffering for a long, long time, because NO ONE IS GOING TO BUILD A BUSINESS IN BALTIMORE FOR A LONG TIME! Businesses require capital investments which investors don't like seeing go up in flames! Call them racist if that makes you feel better.
And then it's the fucking Progressive mob that immediately comes out and shames people for pointing out the looting. Like how dare we?! It is to be 100% about the institutionalized racism, right?! Right? Yeah, that's there, but not so much in Baltimore, and if so, the Progressives are fucking implicit.
That said. For the first time, I feel partial sympathetic for the police in this situation. Barely, but more than most any other situation of police brutality, for which there are plenty examples. Most, if not all, more worthy of drawing our ire.
