What you described with the cake was exactly what happened when we told The Skeksis we weren't having a cake. We wanted a very simple wedding with only 20 people and our budget ended up being pretty small, so we decided the pre-cut carrot cake (it was in October) would be sufficient. She. Was. Not. Happy. The funny thing is she didn't contribute a single penny to our wedding like she did for my husband's older brother's wedding and she had unreasonably requested that we invite extra people we didn't want, which cost us more money. So we had already gone over our budget because of her. After she threw a fit saying you can't have a wedding without cutting the cake, I sarcastically told my husband in private that if she wanted to pay for a cake I would gladly accept one because it would probably cost what we had to pay for the extra people to attend. Sorry Skeksis, you can't have your cake and eat it, too.
