Why do you believe in the paranormal?

I believe in the paranormal simply because of the things I have experienced. I think it is impossible to expect someone who has never experienced the paranormal first hand to truly believe. I've witnessed things in the presence of others who were skeptical until seeing for themselves. I can't prove to anyone that these things have happened if they haven't seen them with their own eyes. When telling the story of a personal experience, the one being told can simply rationalize the events as an hallucination or the workings of an overactive imagination. When watching videos of events, it is far too easy to see how they could have been faked thanks to all the advances in special effects or there being plenty of room off camera to hide someone pulling strings. And who can blame a sceptic? There are more than few people who are perfectly willing to embellish stories and fake videos and pictures for the attention they get. Its not hard to assume that all people are doing this. For me it comes down to this, I believe because I have seen it with my own eyes. I have seen things that did not have a rational explanation. Things that others also witnessed at the same time so I knew it was not in my head only. I am not quick to assume something is paranormal simply because I can't explain it. I will do some impressive mental gymnastics to convince myself that there is a rational, logical explanation if I see or experience something alone. However, if an experience occurs that involves rational people, and none of us can truly explain it, Then I have to look at the situation and say "ok. We cannot explain how this happened, it was not normal in any way, then we have to look at paranormal explanations." I also believe that the day will come that a scientific explanation will be found for many things considered paranormal. I'm no scientist but there has to be an explanation for the things I've seen. Maybe we just don't have the proper technology yet or we don't know where or how to test and measure these things. Sadly, if all things paranormal are brushed off as fakery or delusions, then no respectable scientists will try to find those explanations. That scares me. There are many things in history that were assumed to be witchcraft and magic and sorcery simply because we didn't have the scientific knowledge to explain them. Imagine trying to explain wifi to someone from the 16th century. Have fun being accused of sorcery and being in league with the devil. The drive for knowledge is what compels us. We don't know everything yet. Its possible we never will know everything. Buts it's also just as possible that we will, one day, be able to scientifically explain the paranormal. Sorry this turned into a rant. Hope it at least answered your question.
