TIL: Sleeping less than the recommended eight hours a night is associated with intrusive, repetitive thoughts like those seen in anxiety or depression

For an anecdote, I work 14-16 hours a day, every day, for 3 months at a time, swapping between day and night shift between jobs. All before my company will approve a 7 day hitch. Then it's back at it for another 3 months.

Thursday I got off a 24 hr shift starting on Wednesday afternoon, woke up yesterday morning after 6 hrs of sleep, and had to work nigh shift. As of this post I'll have been awake for ~22 hrs.

Definitely having negative and intrusive thoughts. Not suicidal - but thoughts of inadequacy, helplessness, and frustration. I have also found I have hairpin nerves as of late and it's effecting my relationship with the wife.

I just want some sleep.
