I think it’s more of being insensitive than purposely trying to be hurtful. I think there’s also a difference between making hurtful jokes like that in public and making them privately with people you know wont be offended. The former is to either upset people, get attention, or... idk be shocking just to get reactions from people while the latter is to make people laugh. To humor others. I think it really all comes down to intentions. There’s definitely an argument to be made for the thought that jokes about race shouldn’t ever be made no matter the context. However there’s an argument to be made for the exact opposite as well which is, that no subject should be off limits when it comes to comedy. For me, it’s really just about intentions.
