Box Office Week: Split becomes first horror film since The Sixth Sense to have three consecutive weekends at #1 with $14.5 mil. Rings turned out to be no competition at all, disappointing at #2 with $13 mil. The Space Between Us bombs horribly, opening at #9 with $3.8 mil.

The success of Split is not surprising but I expected XXX 2 to do a lot better given Vin Diesel's return to the part.

Rings' numbers are unsurprising. Like, was anyone hoping for a sequel of The Ring? Thankfully Horror movies tend to have small budgets so Rings will make its money back unlike The Space Between Us which was made for God knows who.

I'm super happy about Moonlight's performance. Even though it's never been in the top 10 and has been in theaters since October, the film has been in the Top 25 steadily. Its drop on numbers have been slim which shows the film has been steadily gaining new audiences week by week. Closing in on 20 million for a film with no stars, a small budget and a niche subject matter, this goes to show critics are relevant enough to turn a Independent movie into a success story through word of mouth.

Rogue One won't beat Civil War's worldwide numbers, its performance in China put an end to that horizon, but it can at least be thankful that it is the most successful film of the year in the USA, beating Civil War and Finding Dory which for a spin-off, is mighty impressive.
