This happened with me too. She was 20 years older than me though so obv my family would be against it. Plus long term goals would be an issue. Yet it was the best relationship either of us had.

Hurt like hell but in the end if you care about them and yourself then you'll have to give each other room to find someone else who's best for both of you.

It's hard to stay excited and happy when the issues you've set aside to think about later, or realize you didn't solve get stuck in your head and you can't ignore it anymore. Even harder when they prove you right. And even HARDER if you get back together with them only to end things again.

I'm sorry you're going through this. I hope you two can stay friends as I did.
