I don't know how you assumed one mechanically failed. That on you. If you watch the video, they had to leave the Defender on the mountain until they could get a new tire put on the wheel another day.

It's a 5,000 lb SUV on pretty low profile all-season highway tires. Why do you think that it's out of the realm of possibility that it gets a pinch flat on SL rated 4-ply tires?
