California voters to decide fate of gig economy workers

This issue with Uber drivers is affecting freelancers of all kinds and it's appalling. Greedy drivers who want flexibility but also paid benefits. Greedy company who wants unfair cut of ride profits. Greedy consumers who want to pay below market value for a service. All these things indicate that Uber has an unsustainable business model. So instead of just letting the company fail and allow something better to take it's place, freelancers all over the state are being forced to become company employees. I've been a 1099 for five glorious years in California, and now I'm being pigeonholed into working as a W2 employee again because of lazy legislation against poor company practices
