Can Democrats be pro-life?

"They mean, 'Some of the best satire has always been based in the distortion of fact.' Although I can't prove that any more than you can.

No, when you bring facts to the table, you can judge them on their level of factual accuracy, and prove whether or not the claims brought are accurate or not.

Let me quote George Carlin here:

They will do anything for the unborn. But once you're born, you're on your own. Pro-life conservatives are obsessed with the fetus from conception to nine months. After that, they don't want to know about you. They don't want to hear from you. No nothing. No neonatal care, no day care, no head start, no school lunch, no food stamps, no welfare, no nothing. If you're preborn, you're fine; if you're preschool, you're fucked.

Which part of that is inaccurate from a conservative point of view?

The "private charity" argument is nonsensical, as if it worked effectively at scale, we wouldn't need systemic national programs to provide these solutions.

I'm just going to refer you to my previous post at this point, as you've done nothing to rebut it.

If you want to reduce abortions and respect life, make sure people have comprehensive sex ed and contraception options available, and work for a society that promotes parenthood by providing resources the way many Western European nations do, so that more of those who don't want children don't get pregnant, and more of those who do want children are able to raise them to be educated and healthy more easily.

If the abortion debate wasn't such an obvious smokescreen for a systemic attempt to control women and women's sexuality, and more of its proponents weren't so adamant about insisting children be born and then so adamant about refusing to help them once they got here, the pro-life movement might be a little more persuasive.

If you really care about children and their lives, you'd be working to make it easier for children to get educated and healthy at an effective national level.

The fact that you're not doing so, and are just making excuses for not doing so on the basis of ideology suggests that you're exactly the sort of person Carlin was referring to when he said "f you're preborn, you're fine; if you're preschool, you're fucked."
