Can I sue my landlord for coming into my apartment and asking if I would allow him to suck on my toes?

I am really sorry for this incredibly unfortunate and stressful situation. I have a few things I want to say. For the record I’m a Legal Assistant that works with a clinic that does eviction-defense for tenants. I hesitate to comment because I am pretty new to this and am just starting to appreciate how incredibly complicated the law can be, but I figure it can’t hurt to at least throw in a few thoughts.

First, get out of there. Take care of your own safety first.

Second, if this legal case something you are interested in looking into and you don’t have a lot of money, check to see if your city or state has free legal resources/legal clinics/etc, or maybe a social services website or hotline that can refer you to such services. My city, for example, has many resources such as neighborhood law clinics that low-income citizens can make free appointments at to discuss their cases with lawyers in different areas of the law. Also know that you can call most attorneys and discuss the situation with them for free (check with them beforehand) and they may take the case if they think it’s going to be successful in the end.

Third, document absolutely everything. Take (many) pictures of this mirror that you’ve mentioned and whatever else that’s relevant . All future communication with landlord should be in email or writing if possible. Document everything relevant to this situation. A police report is a good idea.

Again, your safety should always be the priority. In your situation I would focus on getting the hell out of there first.
